Pilgrim’s Journey

An aging ship fitted with square-masted rigging.
One hundred feet long and twenty-five wide
two months at sea against storms unremitting
Saints pitched to and fro with nowhere to hide

Setting a course to beyond where the sun set
Into the unknown with the world left behind
for sixty-six days salty, seasick and cold-wet
in the hold of the Mayflower the dreams of mankind

Arriving in winter with no house, home, or shelter
battled fever and hunger, faith fought against fear
Yet their trust in God’s WORD was not helter-skelter
for the Great Rock of Ages was already there   -id

“Lo, I am with you always to the end of the world.”
