Froward March

Prov. 6

ne of the first things we learned in the Army was to fall-in, line up, and how to march as a unit. On the command of "Forward March," an entire battalion would move across a parade field like a flock of starlings, wing-tip to wing-tip with remarkable precision. It was impressive to see. Forward March! Froward, on the other hand, is something else. The King James word means "contrary," as in "Mary, Mary, quite contrary." Proverbs 6:12-14 describes the chaos and calamity of those "out of step" with God (contrary). A marriage, a congregation, home, or nation is doomed unless they are in step with God. The Prophet Amos asked, "How can two walk together except they be agreed?" Congress and politicians are at each other's throats. It's a Froward March to ruin. Thoreau said he marched to the beat of a different drum. We, by faith, want to "fall in," Forward March, and follow Jesus. When that happens, it's an awesome sight to see  -id
